Susan
Duncan is the Executive Director of Loaves and Fishes Ministry, Inc. Susan has a Bachelor of
Science in Business Administration from East Carolina University and a
Certificate in Non-Profit Management from Duke University. Susan first came to
Loaves and Fishes as a volunteer in 1990. She later worked for two years as
Director of Youth Programs before she moved to Wilmington where she worked in
Commercial Real Estate Finance with Shields Financial Group and also managed the
career of singer/songwriter Vaughan Penn. She has returned to Raleigh for the
purpose of serving as the Executive Director because she believes so strongly in
the mission of LAF and is committed to continuing the work that Betty Anne and
Nancy devoted themselves to for over 20 years. Susan has a deep devotion to the
students and enjoys every minute that she gets to spend with them!
Cheri Coleman
first became
involved with Loaves and Fishes as a social work intern when she was a graduate
student at University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has since
served on the LAF Board of Directors as VP of Multicultural Development and has
been a Big Buddy. I am excited about the gifts she brings to the children and
the children’s programs. She is knowledgeable about educational issues,
especially as they impact minority students, and she has a rich background in
research and evaluation. She brings excitement, passion, commitment to making a
difference, strong faith, and strong skills in organization and communication.
Cheri is a delight to work with and her many gifts will strengthen our work with
the children and their families.
Beverly Gill has been part-time with Loaves and Fishes
since April of 2005 as the Administrative Assistant. In June of this year, she
became full-time and added on the duties of Volunteer Coordinator and Program
Assistant. She is a former student of North Carolina Central University
and studied Criminal Justice. After changing paths, she obtained her CDA
licensing in early childhood education at North Carolina Central University. She
previously worked with several attorneys and she is also a Notary Public. She
brings valuable legal knowledge and clerical skills to this wonderful program.

Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in
political science and history. Prior to working at Loaves and Fishes, Marian
was the Capital Campaign Coordinator for Saint Mary’s School, another alma mater
of hers, where she directed the major gifts program and a $30 million capital
campaign effort for programmatic and campus facility upgrades. Prior to working
at Saint Mary’s, she was a commercial real estate broker in Washington, D.C.,
for Cushman & Wakefield. A native of Raleigh, she is thrilled to be back home
and excited about the opportunity to work for the wonderful children of Loaves
and Fishes.
Ryann Smith is the Children's Enrichment Coordinator. Ryann grew up in
Southern California. She graduated in 2003 with a Bachelors Degree in Child
Development and Elementary Education from California State University. She
worked as a program coordinator in a state funded preschool program, as well as
an educational development and advocacy program for special needs children.
Ryann also worked as an elementary teacher before coming to Loaves and Fishes
Ministry. Ryann has a very strong passion for education and a belief that all
children can become whatever they desire to be. Ryann believes her purpose on
this Earth is to serve children and help them become functional, responsible,
upstanding adults. Ryann says that it is her calling to help each one develop
physically, spiritually, socially, emotionally, and cognitively to their fullest
potential.
Kevin Small is the Youth Enrichment Coordinator
for the Champs and Stars of the Loaves and Fishes program. Before coming to
Loaves and Fishes, he worked as a high school math teacher for six of the last
seven years. Kevin took one year off from teaching in 2005 order to develop his
very own cookie company, NotYaMama’s Cookies, which he still maintains as a
part-time venture. He received a BS in Psychology in 1999 from Mount Saint
Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD and was also commissioned a 2nd LT in the US
Army that year, but has since received an Honorable Discharge from military
service. Having grown up in the heart of Washington, DC during the 1980’s, Kevin
