Graduation Celebration

Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Loaves and Fishes students became high school graduates in June of 2003. Their names are Crishounda Burnett, Lakeitta Burnett, Archie Austin and Reggie Faison.

The festivities took place in the Fellowship Hall at Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Families and/or friends of each graduate as well as staff and volunteers participated in the celebration. Virgil Moore introduced each graduate and presented gifts. The students took turns sharing their own personal memories and expressing appreciation. Others who spoke movingly about the graduates and/or Loaves and Fishes were:

  • Penny Burke (ten-year Big Buddy/Friend of Crishounda),

  • Deborah Burnette (mother of Lakeitta and Crishounda)

  • Arnold Brown (stepfather of Reggie),

  • Nancy Newell, and Betty Anne Ford.

  • A letter from Mabel Duke Weeks was read in absentia.

While Archie and Lakeitta have not decided on next steps, Crishounda and Reggie

have. Crishounda has enrolled in the nursing program at Wake Tech. Reggie has enrolled as a freshman at North Carolina Central University.  Congratulations and best

wishes from everyone at Loaves and Fishes are extended to each of our graduates.

NOTE: If you would like to write a personal note or card to our graduates, you may send in care of Nancy Newell at the LAF address and she will forward them to each student. They certainly would be proud and inspired to hear from you.
